Referrals

Referrals is where you send or receive a client referral and keep the whole thing — the agreement, the fee terms, and broker review — in one place. It's a tab on the People hub (People · Leads · Referrals · Recruiting), because a referral is really just a person moving between agents.

Sending or receiving

A referral has a direction:

  • Outbound — you're handing a client to another agent or brokerage.
  • Inbound — a client is coming to you from someone else.

Use Add Referral to create one. You capture who it's for, the other side, and the fee terms; the referral agreement lives on the referral so everyone's working from the same document.

The referral list

The workspace is a single list grouped into status sections, with a status flow bar across the top — click a count to filter, or search to find one fast. Each referral shows its current status as a chip:

  • Draft — started, not yet submitted.
  • Submitted / Under Review — with the broker for review.
  • Changes Requested — the broker sent it back with notes.
  • Approved — cleared by the broker.
  • Rejected — declined.
  • Completed / Converted — the referral closed out (converted means it became a live Realm).
  • Cancelled — called off.

Brokers reviewing referrals see a Needs Review section at the top; agents see their own referrals grouped the same way, so unsent drafts stay visible without burying what the broker sent back.

The PDF slide-over

Click any row and the referral opens in a slide-over: the agreement PDF renders on one side, the review and status controls on the other — so you read the document and act on it without leaving the list. Close it and you're right back where you were. The PDF appears exactly when you open a referral, not before, so the list stays fast to scan.

Broker review

A referral agreement runs through the same review flow as any other document: the agent submits, the broker reviews in the slide-over and either approves, rejects, or requests changes. Because status is a single source of truth, the chip in the list and the state in the slide-over never disagree.

Referrals are role-gated. Agents and team leads get the Referrals tab; brokers review referrals as part of their broker workload.
