Uploading & classifying

Uploading a document to a Realm is quick: drop the file in, and EVE figures out what it is and attaches it to the right spot on the checklist. This page covers the flow and how to fix it when EVE gets one wrong.

Uploading a document

  1. Open the Realm and go to Documents.
  2. Choose Upload (or drag the file onto the Documents area).
  3. Pick the file — a PDF works best.
  4. EVE reads it, identifies the document type, and attaches it to the matching checklist item.

You can upload several files at once; each is classified on its own.

How EVE classifies

EVE reads each document — both the text and, for scanned or photographed pages, the page images — and matches it against your brokerage's catalog of document types. Based on how confident it is:

  • Confident — EVE attaches the document to the matching checklist item and updates its status automatically.
  • Fairly confident — EVE attaches it but flags it for a quick human confirmation, so you can verify the match.
  • Unsure — EVE leaves the document in All Documents for you to file manually, rather than guessing.

This means most documents land in the right place without you choosing a type, and the ones EVE isn't sure about are surfaced for review instead of silently mis-filed. EVE reads against your brokerage's live catalog of document types, so it isn't limited to a fixed rule list — a new form your broker adds becomes classifiable without anyone hand-writing a rule.

If EVE is ever unavailable, uploads still work — Realm falls back to matching on the file's name and contents. You'll just confirm the type more often.

Fixing a mis-classification

If a document is attached to the wrong checklist item, or you want to change its type:

  1. Open the document.
  2. Change its type (or move it to the correct checklist item).
  3. Save. The old item goes back to needing a document, and the new one reflects the change.

A document flagged for confirmation will show up in the Realm's issues or attention list so it doesn't get forgotten.
